Lane Design Expo

Lane Design Expo – Spring 2021

As society is aging, it is imperative to find suitable technologies that can enable people of all abilities to live in their own homes longer, in order to minimize the social costs associated with institutional care. In the Gerontech Lab at WVU, we are building a comprehensive system known as RANIA (Residents Aware Network for Intelligent Assistance) to address this challenge.

In the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering of West Virginia University, the students in the Capstone Program are exploring this idea by building Proof-of-Concept solutions. More details can be found in the GeronTechLab website

The Lane Design Expo will be held on April 28, 2021. The event is virtual and open to all faculty, students and staff. Students will present their ideas and demonstrate prototypes. After you visit the Expo, we would appreciate it if you can provide your comments through our survey

The students in CSEE 480 will present their ideas at 2:00 PM. They will implement these ideas in the next semester.

The students in CSEE 481 will demonstrate their prototypes at 4:00 PM. Upon entering the Zoom Room, you will see “Join a breakout room” at the bottom right corner of the screen. You may then proceed to the breakout room of your choice, where student groups will do poster presentations and demonstrate their prototypes. After your visit with the group, you can exit that room and join another room.

To participate and receive the Zoom links to both presentations, please contact Matt Valenti at matthew.valenti@mail.wvu.edu or Ramana Reddy at ramana.reddy@mail.wvu.edu before noon on April 28.
