Edwin C. Jones, Jr., was born in Parkersburg, WV, received a BSEE degree with High Honors from WVU in 1955, a Diploma of the Imperial College of the University of London in 1956, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. during 1956-58.
In 1980 he received a Meritorious Service Award from the Education Society of IEEE and in 1984 was a Centennial Medal Recipient. In 1986 he received an Accreditation Activities Award from IEEE Education Activities Board, a Faculty Citation by ISU for service to the University and was named a Fellow of ASEE. In 1988 he was named a Fellow of IEEE “for contributions to engineering education” and in 1989 he was named a Fellow, Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
He is at present a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University and Coordinator of Off-Campus Courses, ISLI Extension to Business and Industry.
