Glen H. Hiner is Senior Vice President, GE Plastics, the world leader in engineering plastics. Headquartered in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, GE Plastics includes the worldwide operations of the engineering plastics business with division headquarters for GEP-Americas in Pittsfield for GEP. Europe in Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands, and GEP-Pacific in Tokyo, Japan. Other components include GE silicones, GE Superabrasives, and GE Electromaterials. Three components have headquarters in Parkersburg, West Virginia. They are GE Specialty Chemicals, GE Petrochemicals, and Polymerland, Inc. 

Before his current position, Mr. Hiner was Managing Director of GE Plastics-Europe. Prior to joining Plastics, he was General Manager of GE Specialty Motor Department in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He also held product general manager, sales engineering, and marketing manager positions in the GE Industrial Control Department and the GE Large Motor and Generator Department. He joined GE in the technical marketing program in 1957, after graduating in electrical engineering from West Virginia University. 

Glen H. Hiner spent 35 years with General Electric. He then became chairman and chief executive officer of Owens Corning in January 1992. During his time as Owens Corning CEO, Hiner established and implemented a global vision for the company focused on customer satisfaction, individual dignity and shareholder value. The company introduced new products and built new manufacturing facilities around the world. The company’s business strategy drove sales by shifting its focus from individual products to system-driven solutions. The company launched a major restructuring initiative in early 1998 and achieved more than $110 million in cost savings. When Hiner took the reins, Owens Corning sales hovered at $3 billion. When he retired in 2002, sales had grown to $5 billion, with operations in more than 30 countries on 6 continents. 

Glen H. Hiner received an honorary doctorate in science from WVU in 1989. The Society of the Plastics Industry gave its highest honor - the Dan Fox Lifetime Achievement Award - to Hiner in 1994. He also received an honorary doctorate in Humane Lenuttertters from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1997. 

Hiner was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame 2003 and inducted into WVU Order of Vandalia in 2004. He also has been an Acordia Royal/ SunAlliance Distinguished Lecturer at the WVU College of Business and Economics. 

In 2005, Glen and his wife Ann funded the WVU Statler College’s deanship that carries his name. In his honor, the College established the Glen H. Hiner Distinguished Lecture Series, which brings business leaders to campus to share their experience and knowledge with students and faculty. 

Mr. Hiner serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Dana Corporation, The Prudential Insurance Company of America, and Kohler Company. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Toledo Symphony. Mr. Hiner serves on the board of the WVU Foundation and has served on several CEMR advisory committees.
