Leslie grew up in Charleston, WV, and received her BSCS degree from WVU in 1979. She helped establish the Upsilon Pi Epsilon honorary at WVU, and was the Charter President of the chapter.

She began her professional career at Union Carbide Corporation, where she helped develop one of the country's first automated research laboratories. She co-published a paper for the AIChE in 1983.

At Digital Equipment Corporation, she provided software consulting to companies in WV and Ohio, winning the Software Services Excellence award in 1985. She joined the software engineering team and supported the Calendar application in the Office Automation product ALL-IN-1.

Since 1992, Leslie has been with Bank of America, serving in many technology capacities. She managed a team that developed the first client-server application in the Bank. She is currently a Senior Vice President managing merger projects impacting one of the world's largest enterprise data warehouses.

Leslie and her husband Ron have two grown children and live in Charlotte, NC. Leslie is an elder in the Presbyterian Church and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, Threads of Love, and Church World Service (CROP Walk).
