After Marvin Bomar graduated from WVU in 1963 with a BSEE degree, he entered service with the Allegheny Power System as a substation engineer at Monongahela Power Company. Advancing through a variety of division operations, and engineering and construction supervisory assignments, he was named Administrative Assistant to Vice President, Division Operations, and subsequently Manager, Morgantown Division. From there, he was promoted to Director, Personnel, and then Director, Engineering and Construction. 

In January 1995 he was appointed Executive Director, Engineering and Construction and assumed engineering and construction responsibilities for the Potomac Edison Company and West Penn Power Company, as well as Monongahela Power Company. In September 1995, he was appointed Vice President, Monongahela Power Company and assumed responsibilities for Division Operations, Monongahela Power Company. 

Marvin Bomar serves on the Engineering and Operating Committee of the Ohio Electric Utility Institute. In addition, he is Vice Chairman of the Upper Monongahela Subsection of the Pittsburgh Section of the IEEE and serves on the Distribution Business Council of the Electric Power Research Institute, and the Engineering and Operating Executive Committee of the South Eastern Electric Exchange. He has been active in a number of service, social, religious and fraternal organizations. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of West Virginia.
