Mr. Formica is Director of Mobile Measurement Systems for Draegerwerk, AG, of Lubeck, Germany. He is responsible for design, manufacture and marketing of portable gas detection apparatus used in deep mines; his activity requires his travel worldwide.

He is a native of Northfork, WV. He received the BSEE degree from WVU in 1973, and the Masters Degree in Industrial Administration in 1986 from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. While a student at WVU, he was employed by the university's Mine Wide Monitoring Project because of his knowledge and experience gained in underground coal mining in southern West Virginia.

His technical expertise in monitoring and communication for underground mines upon graduation led to his employment with Collins Radio, and later with Nation Mine Service Company in Pittsburgh. There followed top management positions with two Pittsburgh manufacturers before joining National Draeger, Inc. in 1990, as Director of Marketing and Sales for the U.S. subsidiary of Draegerwerk, AG. He moved to his present position in 1992.
